History of ChirBase
Already in the end of 80's, with the increasing demand for enantiomerically pure chiral compounds, the scientific and economic impact of a searchable database compiling chiral analysis methods had become evident. In the beginning of 1990, the first prototype version (5000 entries) of ChirBase with graphical functions for chemical structural input and output was presented to the scientific community at the first Chirality Meeting (Cancun, Mexico). The same year, the database was made available for use by industry and academic organisations.
