Merge, intersect, or subtract lists in ChirBase

Merging lists

You can merge two or more lists of search results to create a new list that contains all the records on all the lists (logical OR).

1. Click the Browse mode (if not selected).

2. Choose List > Logic.

3. Click OR.

4. Click the name of one of the lists that you want to merge in the List 1 box.

5. Click the name of the other list that you want to merge in the List 2 box.

6. Click Apply. The merged list is now current.

7. (Optional) To merge additional lists, repeat Steps 4 through 6.

8.  Click Close

Intersecting lists

You can intersect two or more lists of search results to create a new list that contains only the records that appear on all lists (logical AND).

1. Click the Browse mode (if not selected).

2. Choose List > Logic.

3. Click AND.

4. Click the name of the first list that you want to intersect in the List 1 box.

5. Click the name of the other list that you want to intersect in the List 2 box.

6. Click Apply. The intersected list is now the current list.

7. (Optional) To intersect additional lists, repeat Steps 4 through 6.

8. Click Close.

Subtracting lists

You can subtract the records on one list of search results from the records on another list. When you do this, ISIS creates a new list that contains only the records from the first list that are not also on the second list (logical NOT).

1. Click the Browse mode (if not selected).

2. Choose List > Logic.

3. Click NOT.

4. Click the name of the list from which you want to subtract records in the List 1 box.

5. Click the name of the list that contains the records that you want to subtract in the List 2 box.

6. Click Apply. The subtracted list is now current.

7. (Optional) To subtract additional lists from the first list, repeat Steps 4 through 6.

8. Click Close.
